MGB7 Team conducts Stakeholders' Forum in Barangay Tubigagmanok, Asturias, Cebu

Barangay officials of Tubigagmanok, Asturias Cebu thanked the team from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB7) 7 for conducting Stakeholders’ Forum entitled “Kaayohan sa Mina” at their Barangay Session Hall on Friday, April 29.

The forum aimed to help barangay officials understand the benefits of mining and responsible mining practices and serve as an avenue for their issues and concerns about mining.

Engr. Ronnie Gierran discussed the history of MGB, stages of mining, use and benefits of minerals, environment protection, social acceptability of the mining/quarry operations including mandatory contracts/permits issued by the MGB-DENR and the LGUs.

The forum was attended by Barangay Chief Urvie Megallen, barangay council members, barangay tanods and other barangay staff.

MGB 7 also turned over infographic posters on what to do before, during, and after landslides, flash floods, and the occurrence of sinkholes.

“Mapasalamaton ako sa MGB7, na bisan mubo ang oras o lecture bahin sa mining, sa ilang presentation, nakasabot mi nga daghang benepisyo madawat gikan sa mina. Hinaut unta nga mausab pa ingon ani nga lecture sa lain pang panahon,” Barangay Chief Migallen said in his closing remarks. (Heart Rizarri/IO)
