MGB 7 joins river cleanup on 2022 World Environment Day
In celebration of this year’s Philippine Environment Month and World Environment Day (June 5), six participants from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) 7 joined the coastal/river cleanup along with other volunteers from different government agencies and private companies held early this morning along the area of the Butuanon Bridge in Mandaue City.
Active volunteers collected different sorts of trash dumped in the Butuanon River such as plastic sando bags, face shields, various kinds of plastic cotainers, to-go coffee containers, water bottles, used sacks, various items of clothing, tin cans, damaged roof materials, PVC pipes, and many more which were found along with other sediment pollution. Trashes retrieved were placed at designated areas to be collected by garbage trucks.
The activity was initiated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Central Visayas led by the Environment Management Bureau (EMB) 7 to promote public awareness on waste management, strengthen campaign on waste reduction, recycling and reuse to save our waterways, improve the quality of the environment, and fight climate change.
