The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Central Visayas kicks off Environment Month with “Environmental and Climate Literacy.”

Geared towards educating and mobilizing people to help in the protection and conservation of the environment and rekindling public commitment and involvement and reflecting environmental values and broaden public support, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 7 will lead a month-long celebration.

The United Nations Environment Program say, “small islands contribute little to the problem of climate change yet they are especially vulnerable to the changing climate.”

Therefore, this year’s observance of the World Environment Day and the Philippine Environment Month is geared towards increasing climate change awareness and an understanding of environmental preservation.

This year, Mines and Geosciences Bureau Will organize a facilitated mine tour at Carmen Copper Corp. In Toledo City to be participated by employees of DENR, Environmental Management Bureau, and Mines and Geosciences Bureau.

It is part of the continuing education and awareness of the staff and personnel of the environment agency about the challenges and activities that made mining in Central Visayas responsible.
