The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) 7 joined other government agencies in celebrating National Women’s Month and making strides towards achieving gender equality and empowering women in the workplace.

Throughout March, MGB 7 conducted a series of seminars. On March 8, the MGB Central Office conducted an Orientation on Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) in Climate Change. On March 15 and 22, respectively, Mental Health and Women’s Health seminars were held, facilitated by Al Emil G. Berador, Geosciences Division Chief and Gender and Development (GAD) Committee point person, in collaboration with the Finance and Administrative Division (FAD) led by Aira L. Torregosa.

The Mental Health seminar, titled “Looking After Our Mental Health,” was led by Jan Vinhery L. Taboada, RPm, and focused on coping with daily stress and building resilience. The Women’s Health seminar, led by Dr. Jera C. Armendarez, MPH, MDM, focused on Colorectal Cancer Awareness, promoting healthy eating habits to decrease the risk of developing colon cancer. Both speakers were from the Department of Health (DOH) Region VII.

MGB employees expressed gratitude for the seminars as the topics are relevant and important, given the high prevalence of these diseases.

Regional Director Armando L. Malicse was also thankful to the speakers and facilitator’s initiative for the topics being introduced to the employees for MGB 7. (Heart Rizarri/IO)
