MGB 7, CCC Unite for Children's Charity

In a remarkable show of solidarity, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) 7 has actively joined hands with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Central Visayas (DENR CV) and Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) 7. Together, in collaboration with Carmen Copper Corporation (CCC) and the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers (PSEM) – Visayas Chapter, they spearheaded a meaningful initiative to give back to the community.

This collaborative effort unfolded through a donation drive at the Missionaries of Charity Home for the Sick and Malnourished Children in Barangay Suba, Cebu City, as part of the Community Passion (ComPassion) Project Activity held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

A generous donation totaling Php 120,724.00, comprising cash and essential items such as health and hygiene products, cleaning supplies, toys, and vitamins, directly addressed the immediate needs of the 16 beneficiaries, including infants as young as two months old. The Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity expressed gratitude, emphasizing the positive impact on the local community, especially for vulnerable children.

MGB 7 Regional Director, Armando L. Malicse, thanked DENR 7, EMB 7, CCC, and PSME for their generous donations and partnerships in this first charity endeavor.

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to our partners for their generous donations. It is my sincere hope that we can make this a regular activity. I strongly encourage other mining companies to collaborate with us in these charitable endeavors. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need,” RD Malicse said.

This charitable endeavor aligns with the 50th Founding Anniversary of the Career Executive Service Board (CESB). It involves participation from members of DENR – Association of Career Executives, Inc. (DENR – ACE), Regional Executive Directors, Bureau Directors, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Directors, and Heads of Attached Agencies. The initiative resonates with the core principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership.

The turnover activity, attended by MGB 7 and DENR 7 personnel, symbolizes the organization’s commitment to supporting the local community through direct and meaningful contributions.

Geosciences Division Chief Al Emil G. Berador and Admin Chief Atty. Emmylyn Dicdican, representing their respective agencies, highlighted the significance of their collective dedication to the well-being of the vulnerable community. (MGB7/IO)
