Empowering a Drug-Free Workplace: MGB 7's Commitment to Awareness and Prevention

In support of the government’s campaign against drugs and the creation of a drug-free workplace, the officers of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association (MGBEA) 7 in partnership with the Department of Health – Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-CVCHD) conducted an Orientation on Drug-Free Workplace for MGB 7 Employees last November 10, 2023.

Ms. Jan Vinhery Taboada of DOH-CVCHD shared vital information on Drug Prevention and Control focusing on educating and raising awareness about the detrimental effects of drug abuse. This included discussions on preventive measures, the importance of family and community involvement, and various aspects of controlling and combating drug-related issues. This aimed to empower individuals with knowledge, promote a drug-free lifestyle, and encourage collaboration between communities and authorities for a safer and healthier environment.

Furthermore, Prince Irl Ronquillo from DOH-CVCHD outlined the essential aspects of Drug-Free Workplace Policies and Programs, emphasizing the adverse effects of drugs on individuals, particularly in the workplace.

In his welcome remarks, MGB 7 Regional Director Armando L. Malicse highlighted the significance of the orientation, stating that it is essential for the agency to raise awareness about the rights and responsibilities of employees to contribute in the government’s drug-related campaign.

“Having a fundamental understanding of the signs and symptoms of drug dependence is beneficial, whether dealing with an MGB 7 employee, a family member, or a friend. This knowledge empowers us to address such issues or situations appropriately and effectively, and we can also share this knowledge with others,” Malicse added.

This orientation was part of the annual celebration activities for the 125th Mines and Geosciences Bureau Founding Anniversary this month. (MGB7/IO)
