In a significant move towards environmental empowerment, the Municipality of Tuburan hosted a seminar on July 18, 2023, with the goal of strengthening the knowledge and capabilities of its Multisectoral Forest Protection Committee (MFPC) members and selected individuals from the local government unit (LGU).
The initiative, conceived earlier this year, aims to develop a corps of environmentally conscious officers, ready to safeguard the town’s natural resources.
Tuburan Mayor Democrito Diamante extended invitations to speakers from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) 7, with Supervising Geologist Ellen Lupo covering the topic of geohazards and MTSS Chief Engr. Edward Malahay addressing permit processes.
These essential topics will pave the way for participants to qualify as Deputized Environment and Natural Resources Officers (DENROs) and Wildlife Enforcement Officers (WEOs). This collaborative endeavor, marked by the enthusiasm and commitment of participants, signifies a pivotal milestone on the journey towards a more environmentally aware and empowered community.
