SO THAT they can draft a legislative measure on the matter, the Cebu City Council has invited the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) 7 to an executive session on Aug. 1 to discuss the possible risks of close to 800 sinkholes discovered in the urban area.
The council also wants geologists to provide a map of the locations of the sinkholes.
A day after a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the town of Jaro, Leyte earlier this month, the MGB said they have discovered some 770 sinkholes in the urban area of the city. MGB 7 asked the public not to panic and adopt mitigation measures instead. (RTF) | Source: Sunstar Cebu
