Amid the province-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), Carmen Copper Corporation started distributing relief packs to families most affected by the Stay-At-Home order or to households whose breadwinners lost their jobs or cannot make a living due to the ECQ.

Carmen Copper has tapped the Barangay Council of its host and neighboring communities to distribute the relief packs to the intended recipients.

This initiative aims to complement government efforts in helping the communities survive the COVID crisis and to alleviate its growing impact on the local, national and global economy.

Carmen Copper through its Community Relations Department has reached out to 17  barangays in Toledo City where a total of 4,739 families stand to receive relief aid where each pack consists of 5 kilos of rice, three canned goods and 3 instant noodles.

Earlier this month, Carmen Copper donated five IBC containers to the Toledo City Government to be used at PNP checkpoints stationed in the different borders of the city. 

It has also organized a weekly “Tabo sa Mina” (Market Day) to help local farmers sell their produce. The “Tabo sa Mina” is participated by members of company-assisted People’s Organizations and Cooperatives who are affected by the suspension of public transportation due to ECQ.

During “Tabo sa Mina”, they are provided transportation to ferry their goods and safely sell in the mine site.

To ensure the safety of employees, contractors and the communities, Carmen Copper has implemented precautionary measures inside the mine site including social distancing, wearing of masks, suspension of public gatherings and other activities non-essential to operation.

Employees also received health kits consisting of face masks, vitamins, rice and hygiene supplies. All workstations are provided with a   steady supply of sanitizers. The company also provided free transportation, among other measures put in place to ensure employee safety.
