The P4.1-million multi-purpose covered court has a rainwater harvester to provide water supply to the school for cleaning and washing only, especially that water is scarce in the area. The facility can also be used as an evacuation center during disasters.
Carmen Copper Corp. believes that quality education plays a vital role in reducing poverty in the community.
The company recently turned over a multipurpose covered court construction within the grounds of Media Once National High School (MONHS) in Toledo City that shall benefit not only its students and faculty but the entire community.
For students of MONHS, holding activities in the school grounds under the scorching heat and harsh weather are not a thing in the past.
This facility will pave the way for more educational and recreational activities that shall develop the students into responsible citizens and future leaders.
The new covered court can also be used as an evacuation center during disasters.

“On behalf of the Department of Education Division of Toledo, I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to Carmen Copper for donating such multipurpose covered court. Thank you for choosing MONHS as one of the beneficiaries of your social development programs and for all the help you have extended to the different schools in Toledo,” said schools divisions superintendent Dr. Joseph Irwin Lagura.
Sofronio D. Paragoso, MONHSÂ OIC-Principal, said that without the help from stakeholders, constructing a covered court in their public school was impossible.
“But because of the collaborative efforts of the academic community and our benefactor, Carmen Copper Corp., our dream to have this facility has become a reality,” said Paragaso.
The multi-purpose covered court donated to MONHS is a project under the company’s Social Development and Management Program (SDMP).
Through the SDMP, Carmen Copper implements various projects that aim to improve the quality of education in its host and neighboring barangays in Toledo City. | Source: Sunstar Cebu
