The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu, University of Cebu, Profood International Corporation, Sacred Heart Parish-Jesuits and Government Agencies inked today, 3 October 2021, a Memorandum of Agreement at the University of Cebu, Mambaling Campus to seal a deal together in a program the “500 LEGACY TREES for 500 YoC”.

The significance of this program is that by 2025 at least 50% of parishes in Archdiocese have conducted capacity building towards a goal in becoming a Church Gifted to Live in the Spirit and Principles of Laudato Si’ by promoting ecological awareness, conversion, and action through 500 LEGACY TREES Program in celebrating 500 Years of Christianity in the Philippines.

The current “new normal” condition calls for an even more focused attention to the plight of our environment as well as those of the poor communities.

The MoA signatories include University of Cebu President Atty Augusto Go, Mr Justin Uy of Profood International Corporation, Fr Roberto Carampatan of the Sacred Heart Parish- Jesuits, DENR RED Paquito Melicor Jr together with EMB7 RD Lormelyn Claudio and MGB7 RD Armando Malicse, and His Excellency Archbishop Jose Palma.
