30 MGB 7 employees complete Standard First Aid (SFA) Training
Thirty MGB 7 employees are now equipped to save lives after successfully completing a three-day Standard First Aid (SFA) training held last August 7-9, 2024, at Diamond Suites and Residences, Cebu City.
The SFA Training aims to equip employees with basic knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond effectively to emergencies, in and out of the office. Given that many participants engage in field work including mining site visits, this training is important for ensuring their preparedness in various situations. Additionally, the training enhances participants’ understanding of First Aid legal implications, treatments, and medical emergency response.
During the activity, participants learned about first aid and common emergencies such as bleeding (closed and open wounds), burns, head and spine injuries, fractures and dislocations, bone, joint, and muscle injuries, and heat-related emergencies. They also learned various techniques for bandaging, splinting, lifting and moving patients, and patient assessment.
Participants were actively engaged and cooperative throughout the training, expressing sincere gratitude for the opportunity to acquire life-saving skills. They are now eager to apply their newfound knowledge to assist those in need.
All participants received First-Aid Certificates of Completion, following their post and practical exams on their last day of training.
The training was facilitated by Course Manager Rafael Enriquez of Rapid (COO-Rapid Ambulance Service) along with Dr. Norhamidah M. Musa (Rapid Ambulance Service), Mary Rose D. Calves, RN (RHU-Consolacion) and Janice Sayloon Tomimbang, RN, LPT, USRN (DEPED7) who are all DOH-Certified Standard First Aid Trainers.
Al Emil G. Berador enthusiastically welcomed participants on the first day, setting a positive tone for the training. Regional Director Malicse emphasized the significance of the training, stating, “This SFA training is a crucial step in ensuring the safety and well-being of our MGB 7 employees. I commend the Admin and Finance Division for their initiative and the trainers for their invaluable expertise.” (IO/MGB 7)
