The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region 7 (MGB 7), led by Regional Director Armando L. Malicse, joined the Philippine Environment Month 2024 opening ceremony. The event, organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and several government agencies, was held at the DEPED Ecotech Center on June 3, 2024. This year’s theme, “Our Environment. Our Future,” emphasizes the importance of environmental conservation for future generations.

One of the highlights of the kickoff ceremony was the exhilarating cheerleading competition, where different agencies showcased their passion for the environment through captivating slogans and chants. RD Malicse awarded gift certificates for the Best in Acting for male and female participants, adding excitement to the event.

In addition to the ceremonial activities, MGB 7 employees and volunteers actively participated in river and coastal cleanup initiatives. These efforts were in celebration of World Environment Day on June 5 and World Oceans Day/Coral Triangle Day on June 7. Cleanups were conducted in Barangay Luyang, Carmen, Cebu, and the South Road Properties (SRP) area, Cebu City, demonstrating a commitment to preserving river and marine environments.
