MGB Region VII and PSA RSSO VII Align on Mineral Resources Accounting Initiatives

Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. VII (MGB 7) welcomed officials and technical personnel from the Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office VII (PSA RSSO VII) for an Alignment Meeting on Mineral Resources Accounting, held last September 3, 2026, at the MGB 7 Office in Banilad, Mandaue City.

The meeting was requested by PSA RSSO VII pursuant to Section 6 of Republic Act No. 11995, the Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System (PENCAS) Act, which mandates institutional coordination among agencies involved in ecosystem and natural capital accounting.

Representing MGB 7 were Amelita G. Acedo, Engr. Reina Frances D. Requieron, and Engr. Ronnie B. Gierran, together with Mine Management Division Chief Edgardo C. Loquellano.

The team joined PSA RSSO VII representatives in revisiting the initiatives undertaken during the previous compilation of Mineral Resources Accounts in 2023, discussing accomplishments achieved, agreements reached, pending activities, and the status of available data.

The dialogue reaffirmed both agencies’ commitment to strengthening data-sharing mechanisms and coordination — identifying clear action points, responsible offices, and timelines to guide the continuation and improvement of Mineral Resources Accounting in Central Visayas.

MGB 7 looks forward to continued collaboration with PSA RSSO VII in support of sound, data-driven natural resource governance. (Heart Rizarri/IO)
