A team from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau – 7 was immediately deployed following the landslide incident in the City of Naga, Cebu.

The landslide happened early morning, Thursday reportedly burying several houses in Sitio Sindulan, barangay Tinaan, City of Naga.

Heavy rainfall on the night of September 19 and early morning of September 20 may have triggered the landslide in sitio Sindulan.

The area is underlain by limestone rocks and cracks and fissures are common in the area.

The Mines and Geologists Bureau – 7 is currently coordinating with the local government units, and the Cebu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Office (CPDRRMO) on the current rescue operations. Carmen Copper Corp. also assisted in the rescue operation and deployed their rescue team.

Earlier the MGB-7 has issued Advisories to the local government units in the region in relation to intense rainfall occurrences due to enhancement of Habagat.

The public is advised to stay away from the danger zone and for the rescue team to take precautionary measures as there may be continuous movement in the landslide area.
